Founded in 2017 by Julio Litardo, a proud Montubio (a member of the rural coastal communities in Ecuador known for their strong connection to the land and their rich cultural traditions) from Vinces, Ecuador, LITARKAO brings a fresh perspective to this ancient craft. "La pepa de oro y el Montubio" (The Golden Seed and the Montubio) refers to Don Pedro Nicolás, the former administrator of HDA La Libertad, a historic plantation located in Vinces, Los Ríos — Ecuador's cocoa heartland. Also a member of the Montubio community, he continues to cultivate cacao with love, experience, and a deep knowledge of "Fine Aroma Cocoa" in his vibrant nineties. At LITARKAO, we meticulously select each cacao bean to craft the finest, most exquisite artisanal 100% Ecuadorian chocolate.
All our products are lactose-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and contain no genetically modified organisms (GMOs). They are 100% organic and support ethical and sustainable farming practices.
We use only "cacao fino de aroma," the most exotic and flavorful cocoa in the world. The result is an authentic chocolate with a high cocoa percentage, featuring a distinctive citrus and floral flavor — a true reflection of the land.
